The right size of unit depends on what you'll be using it for, but the guide below should cover most businesses:
Small unit 250 – 500sqft
Sole traders and start ups. These could be online retailers, small workshops, secure tool storage and tradespeople.
Medium unit 500 – 1,000sqft
Small businesses. This could include joinery, electricians, plumbers, e-commerce or light manufacturing.
Large unit 1,000 – 2,000sqft
Growing companies. This could include warehousing, engineering, distribution or production.
Many companies make the mistake of renting a unit that's too large and paying for unused space. A good approach is to choose a unit that is around 20-30% larger than your current requirement, giving you room to grow without paying for excessive unused space.
